Jim Clark returned to the Brickyard in 1965 to place his Lotus 38 on the front row with Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt. Clark had been beaten to the pole by Foyt in an updated Lotus 34.  This defeat began a duel that would leave the rest of the field behind. Lap after lap, the two determined drivers vied for position. Foyt's challenge ended at Lap 116 and there was no one putting the heat on Clark. Clark drove #82 to a walk-away victory at a record speed of 150.686 mph. It was the first Indianapolis victory for a rear-engine car, the first for a British car, and the first for a foreign driver in almost 50 years!
The Lotus 38 that Jim Clark drove to victory in the 1965 Indianapolis 500 is one of the most famous racing cars in history. We invite you to examine and see that this Carousel 1 model is almost as realistic as the real Lotus racer. Carousel 1 matched the model’s green and yellow paint to the restored #83 (housed in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum), and the red cockpit “leather” is matched to a bit of the original upholstery.

The 1966 Indy 500 race was described as the most fantastic, confused and incredible 500 by The Indianapolis Star. Dan Gurney qualified his All American Racers Eagle in a disappointing 19th position. Before the leaders had completed the first turn of the first lap, Billy Fosters car struck the rear of Gordon Johncocks car and triggered a 16-car crash, eliminating eleven cars including Gurneys.
Only 7 cars finished, the fewest ever, and even Graham Hills win, the first rookie win since 1927, was disputed.

Carousel 1 offers you this striking 1:18 limited edition die-cast replica of Gurneys Eagle. Authorized by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, All American Racers and endorsed by Dan Gurney.

The long awaited 1977 Indianapolis 500 winning A.J. Foyt/Gilmore Coyote model is here. Foyt's fourth Indy victory is celebrated because he was the first driver to win the Memorial Day Classic four times, and it's much more than that. The Bob Riley-designed Coyote chassis was built and prepared by A.J. Foyt, Jr. and his crew, including A.J. "Tony" Foyt, Sr.
The Foyt V-8 was built and developed in the engine room at A.J. Foyt, Jr. Enterprises in Houston. The actual car in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum has a more complicated engine than any previously modeled, so they took this opportunity to create more detail in the model.
When you examine this model closely, you'll realize how completely Carousel 1 has captured this complexity.
